The past few years certainly haven’t been easy for retailers. A pandemic, global chain disruptions and shortages, inflationary pressures that have squeezed consumers’ wallets and increased product costs, economic uncertainty and geopolitical instability have resulted in the closure of thousands of stores and the demise of numerous brands. Not content with all this economic disruption, a new phase of digital technology has altered consumer behaviour and increased expectations, changing the retail marketplace forever. Growth opportunities exist, but seizing them requires new mindsets, technologies, supply chain capabilities, and logistics networks.

Blackstone buys a network of logistics parks in the Czech Republic and Slovakia for 470 million euros

American equity firm Blackstone is buying CT Real Estate, a portfolio of ten logistics parks, for €470 million from TPG Real Estate. The mentioned industrial properties currently cover an area of ​​approximately 500,000 square meters in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Five years ago, TPG Real Estate created a joint venture with the developer Contera and thus acquired its portfolio, which has since quadrupled with joint efforts.

The future of logistics and storage in the Czech Republic: New research by the SKLAD association reveals key trends

What technological innovations are companies implementing in logistics and warehousing to cope with the increasing pressure for efficiency, or what are the applications of artificial intelligence in these areas? The new study Trends in Czech Logistics 2025 offers answers not only to these questions. It was carried out by the research company IPSOS for the SKLAD association. As part of questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews, 205 logistics managers from various segments shared their opinions. The study follows on from the successful versions from 2022 and 2020.

Tchibo introduces new technologies in the distribution center in Panattoni Park Cheb

The Tchibo company launched several unique technologies in its distribution center in Panattoni Park Cheb. Thanks to this, the building became one of the most modern distribution centers in Europe. The exceptionally spacious hall with a total area of ​​more than 110,000 square meters now has the most efficient equipment for servicing important parts of Tchibo's logistics system. The hall was built in three separate phases between 2016 and 2021 and became the third largest logistics building ever built in the Czech Republic. The logistics center serves as a hub for the entire Tchibo e-commerce division. The new warehouse management system was delivered by Körber. The company Tchibo consulted the entire modernization project with the company FORTNA. The warehouse is operated by DHL, the building is owned by Accolade Industrial Fund, and the construction of the distribution center was provided by Panattoni.

Lidl opened a logistics center in Bravantice in Ostrava. It now supplies 26 stores, for a total of 65

At the beginning of September, according to its plan, Lidl started the operation of a new ecological logistics center in Bravantice near Ostrava. The first shipment took place on July 16, and the first employees started moving to the premises during July as well. Since September, the center supplies the first 26 stores. Most of the electricity consumption is covered by production from the gas cogeneration unit. It is the first such warehouse that Lidl has built in Europe. The goal is to make logistics more efficient with an emphasis on ecology and to use top technologies to optimize operations and minimize the impact on the environment.
