The new terminal will be part of the Arete industrial park. Valašské meziříčí. "We are responding to the relative lack of quality and affordable, completed parks. With our own team, we build a modern complex that meets strict environmental conditions and standards in the field of long-term sustainability. We are pleased that the leading logistics company DB Schenker will become the main tenant, ”says Lubor Svoboda, co-founder of the Arete Group.
The total area of Halls A and B for the needs of DB Schenker and its customers will be 10,500 square meters. 10 ramps will be available for loading and unloading. Smart ecological LED lighting will be used in the halls, and two forklift induction trolleys will also find their place among the handling technology in the raw materials warehouse. “The terminal is in a convenient location. The connection with the D48 motorway offers excellent transport connections to the main routes to Ostrava, Brno or Poland, as well as to Slovakia. However, the proximity of our long-term customer's operations was decisive, ”explains Tomáš Holomoucký, CEO of DB Schenker.
DB Schenker will provide most of the logistics services in the new terminal for its long-term customer Jacobs Douwe Egberts. The Dutch coffee and tea producer has a factory in Valašské Meziříčí. So far, the DB Schenker warehouse in nearby Nový Jičín is used as a distribution warehouse, the move to the new one will shorten the path between production and distribution by 15 kilometers. Shuttle transport between the production and distribution center will operate continuously - 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In the future, DB Schenker plans to automate the unloading of regular shuttles, thus reducing the unloading of the truck from the current 30 minutes to 90 seconds.
"Jacobs Douwe Egberts in Valašské Meziříčí currently produces over 30,000 tons of coffee and coffee blends per year. It exports products of iconic brands such as Jacobs, L´Or, Senseo, Douwe Egberts and others to 25 countries around the world. The factory is located practically in the city, it does not have a warehouse of the required size. Thanks to the long-term cooperation with DB Schenker, we have completed the idea of a satellite warehouse close to the factory. As a result, the route between the factory and the current external warehouse will be shortened, reducing the carbon footprint by 132 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. At the same time, we will be able to optimize key storage and handling areas within the factory and thus increase the level of security, which is our main priority, "said Karel Škvain, Director of Jacobs Douwe Egberts.
Coffee and other products will fill 6,000 square meters in the new warehouse, the remaining 4,500 square meters will be available to new customers and partners from the automotive, electronics or consumer sectors operating in the region. It will be possible to expand the existing storage capacity by another ten thousand square meters in the future.
