The first One Box was installed in Smíchov, Prague, while the last one was installed in Ďáblice, Prague. One Boxes thus complement the existing network of drop-off boxes and locations where Wedo delivers its shipments. The number of locations where Czech customers can pick up their orders from the Allegro platform and beyond will thus increase to more than 3,840.
"For our customers, delivery to delivery boxes is consistently one of the most popular modes of transport, and the rate of their use is constantly increasing. Launching our own network of delivery boxes, which will bring a unified experience to customers, is therefore a natural step to further increase the convenience of shopping and at the same time again advance the overall quality of our services," says Jakub Kłoczewiak, Allegro's Chief Operating Officer.
Easy to control and environmentally friendly
Dispensing One Boxes have intuitive controls and are also designed to respect the environment of Czech cities with their design, the company further informs. They are powered by electricity from the classic electricity network, while Allegro only buys electricity from suppliers with proven origin certification. At the same time, the company equipped its boxes with air quality sensors – so customers can check the measurement results online on a map of all locations. So that local residents are not disturbed, Allegro precisely marks the places where couriers are allowed to unload parcels, and also introduces silent opening and closing of the doors of individual One Box compartments.
In order to reduce electricity consumption and not contribute to light smog, the lighting of the One Boxes is activated only when needed, by a motion sensor. Dispensing boxes also have barrier-free access for customers with disabilities. Soon, users will also be able to use a number of other functions - such as cash on delivery directly via the One Box payment terminal or the option to choose the height of the compartment to which the shopper will have their order delivered. At the moment, customers can pay for their orders by cash on delivery through the payment gateway provided to them via a link in the notification that will arrive via e-mail or SMS as soon as the shipment has been delivered to the delivery box and is ready for collection. In the future, the possibility of cash on delivery payment directly in the Allegro application is also planned.
Change in progress
Starting this summer, Czech customers will be able to follow the rebranding of the logistics company Wedo by Allegro to "One by Allegro", which will lead to the gradual unification of logistics services under the Allegro Group across all markets in which the group operates. As part of the rebranding, not only the uniforms of the couriers will be gradually replaced, but also the markings of delivery points or logistics depots.
"Wedo delivered a respectable 8.2 million shipments last year and has become synonymous with fast and reliable delivery, not only for purchases on allegro.cz, but also for other e-shops outside the platform that use its services. The transformation of Wedo by Allegro into the new One by Allegro brand is the entry into a completely new stage for us, where we want to further advance the standard of delivery and thus bring our customers the opportunity to choose from millions of offers across categories. All this with the certainty of fast and convenient delivery to delivery boxes, delivery points and to the customer's address," comments Jakub Kłoczewiak.
