With compact dimensions of only 1.2 m² and an extraordinary power density of 1042 kW/m², the Galaxy VXL sets new standards in the field of efficient and sustainable UPS technologies. The system is immediately available in all regions with the European 400V voltage standard and provides top performance for a wide range of uses from AI data centers to colocation and hyperscale data centers to critical infrastructure in commercial and industrial facilities.
The design of the system is specially designed for high loads associated with artificial intelligence and ensures maximum availability even for the most energy-demanding operations. One Galaxy VXL frame can power a device with an input power of up to 1.25 MW, and even up to 5 MW when four units are connected in parallel. At the same time, the system achieves excellent operational and energy efficiency and significantly reduces overall operating costs.
Thanks to the use of patented technologies, the Galaxy VXL achieves an efficiency of up to 99% in the economical and drop-free eConversion mode and up to 97.5% in the double conversion mode. This means superior power protection with half the energy consumption and carbon footprint of conventional backup sources.
Compared to similar devices on the market, the Galaxy VXL takes up 52% less space. Its modular design allows the connection of a backup module (N+1 internal redundancy), which increases the reliability of the entire system tenfold. Thanks to the modular solution, customers can optimize the initial investment and add additional power modules gradually according to their needs.
The Galaxy VXL is compatible with both lithium-ion and VRLA batteries, and the Live Swap function allows easy replacement or installation of power modules without interrupting operation. Remote monitoring is provided by EcoStruxure software, while maintaining a high level of cyber security with IEC 62443-4-2 certification.
"Companies are increasingly dependent on large-scale infrastructure systems. It is therefore absolutely essential that they have access to the most sustainable, resilient and efficient technologies. These must both secure their critical systems and at the same time reduce energy consumption and environmental impact as much as possible," explains Tarunjeet Sarao, Vice President of the Data Center Division at Schneider Electric.
"Our new UPS Galaxy VXL combines compact dimensions, an innovative approach and high efficiency with advanced safety features. It thus provides top power protection for a wide range of applications – from artificial intelligence systems to data centers to industrial applications. Thanks to this, even future computing-intensive systems will be protected with unmatched reliability," adds Tarunjeet Sarao.
Key features and benefits
The Galaxy VXL delivers unprecedented power density and an architecture ready for AI workloads. It is the first on the market to offer scalable power modules with a power of 125 kW in a space of only 3U, while it can power up to 1.25 MW of critical loads in one frame. When 4 units are connected in parallel, it can provide a power of up to 5 MW on an area of only 4.8 m².
The main advantages of the system include:
Modular, scalable high-performance design: With a power density of 1042 kW per square meter, customers can deploy a 1.25 MW modular UPS in a single frame and gradually add power modules with pay-as-you-grow flexibility.
Smaller dimensions: Galaxy VXL has a footprint with a total area of 1.2 m2, taking up 52% less space than conventional solutions. Access is only needed from the front and the back can be against the wall, which means better use of space.
Higher efficiency and sustainability: Galaxy VXL provides up to 99% efficiency in eConversion mode and up to 97.5% efficiency in double conversion mode. Its compact dimensions mean a reduction in the consumption of raw materials, less packaging. There is an economical SPoT (Smart Power Test) test mode, which enables energy-efficient testing of the UPS system and power modules.
Lower CapEx and OpEx: Due to higher operational efficiency, electricity costs are significantly reduced. In addition, easy maintenance reduces the cost of service work. Both of these advantages lead to overall lower so-called cost of ownership (TCO).
Reinforced, durable construction: Galaxy VXL is built for maximum durability - it uses specially coated circuit boards, offers short-circuit resistance up to 100kA and can optionally be installed with a seismic resistance kit. The result is an extremely robust and reliable device.
Enhanced cyber safety and security: Galaxy VXL is certified to the latest IEC 62443-4-2 safety standards and features Live Swap technology that allows power modules to be replaced without interrupting operations.
Extended life thanks to the EcoCare system: Together with the Galaxy VXL, Schneider Electric presents the new EcoCare service program. This includes priority access to technical support both on-site and remotely, continuous AI monitoring of equipment and predictive maintenance, which can reduce the number of service interventions by up to half. Thanks to this, life is significantly extended
