The international logistics company Dachser has concentrated most of its export LCL shipments in Europe at a new container terminal in Waddinxveen near Rotterdam. In its own contract logistics warehouse, it consolidates groupage shipments from customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, a large part of France and Germany, as well as Switzerland and partly also from Central and Eastern Europe, including the Czech Republic.

From there, it sends the consolidated shipments by sea to the whole world via the port of Rotterdam. By carrying out the consolidation in its own premises, the company has full control over the processes in this key part of the supply chain, according to a company press release, and is flexible and independent of third parties.

Gebrüder Weiss strengthens in the Caucasus
The international company Gebrüder Weiss has expanded its logistics terminal in Tbilisi, Georgia, by another 13,000 square meters, thereby increasing its capacities in the Caucasus. It responds to the demand for transport and logistics services, which is mainly influenced by the growing trade between the European Union, Georgia, and its neighboring countries Armenia and Azerbaijan.

This is the third expansion of this logistics center since its opening twelve years ago. After the first one, which took place in 2019, and the subsequent connection to the railway network the following year, the area now has a total of 142,000 square meters of storage and handling space, including a railway siding, parking lots and open space. The area near Tbilisi International Airport has developed into a central hub for the growing exchange of goods between Europe and Central Asia and within the entire Caucasus region. Free trade agreements with the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union have further supported trade and made Georgia an important transit country.

PST CLC Mitsui-Soko acquires a major client in Slovakia
Although the logistics company PST CLC Mitsui-Soko did not announce the opening of a new branch this fall (it opened a branch in Rotterdam two years ago), it has entered the Slovak market this year. Right from the start of its business in Slovakia, it acquired a major customer, Continental Tires Slovakia, for which it provides part of the internal logistics at its plant in Púchov and external warehouses in the vicinity. For PST CLC Mitsui-Soko, this cooperation means almost doubling its turnover. PST CLC Mitsui-Soko now employs more than a hundred workers in Slovakia as part of this project, who ensure all handling of raw materials for production and finished products from production for storage and subsequent shipping.

The service also includes the transport of finished products between the production plant and external warehouses. PST CLC Mitsui-Soko is currently planning to analyze the suitability of implementing a digital twin within the framework of intralogistics at Continental Tires Slovakia.
