The industrial park will be located on brownfield land, specifically in the area affected by the mining of the former Barbora coal mine. "The Panattoni development company has extensive experience in the construction of similarly large and demanding projects in the world and in the Czech Republic," says Pavel Sovička, managing director of Panattoni CZ & SK. His colleague Matěj Hejma, regional development director of Panattoni, notes that the developer's intention is for the entire area to build on the rich industrial tradition of the Karviná region and help the economic transformation of the former coal region.
The developer is cooperating with the regional agency MSID, as well as with the CzechInvest agency, local governments and the Moravian-Silesian Region, with which the company signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The territory in the Karviná-Doly area has been designated for the creation of an industrial zone in the valid zoning plan for almost twenty years. The area is now burdened by a number of illegal dumps that cover invasive trees. Although there are several historically significant mining structures in the vicinity of the planned industrial park, the construction of industrial buildings will not affect them, according to the developer. Even the famous church of St. Peter of Alcantara, which is more than 400 meters away from the nearest point of the project, will not be affected by the construction or operation of the industrial complex, thanks to the isolation belt formed by the terrain wave and the planting of new cultivated greenery, the company says.
